What are the key metrics for mobile performance?

“We have one million downloads.” “We were featured in the App Store!” “Our average session length is over one minute.” Launching and growing a mobile application is one of the most exciting, stressful, and all-consuming experiences a company can experience. For some, mobile is an extension of a company to a new platform – like a bricks-and-mortar retailer expanding to web, and apps. For others, it is the sole channel of interaction. Either way, expectations for mobile performance are high. But how high? And how can you tell if you are successful or not? For business-to-consumer (B2C) apps – including shopping, gaming, and social media – just a handful of key performance indicators (KPIs) can provide an actionable status report on the overall health of the business and implications for the product itself. Not just downloads – but active users.   – e.g., opening the app daily, weekly, or monthly – not just who just have it downloaded on their phone or tablet. Not just dol...

The Top 10 Pricing Mistakes Companies Are Making

Mistake No. 1:
Basing prices on costs, not customers ’ perceptions of value. Prices based on costs invariably lead to one of the following two scenarios: 1) if the price is higher than the customers’ perceived value the cost of sales goes up, discounting increases, sales cycles are prolonged and profits suffer; 2) if the price is lower than the customers’ perceived value, sales are brisk, but companies are leaving money on the table, and therefore are not maximizing their profit. Mistake No. 2: Companies base their prices on “the marketplace.” By resorting to “marketplace pricing,” companies accept the commoditization of their product or service. Marketplace pricing is a resting place for companies that have given up, and where profits end up being razor thin. Instead of giving up, these management teams must find ways to differentiate their products or services so as to create additional value for specific market segments. Mistake No. 3: Same profit margin across d...

Google internet adaptasyonu ve arama motorunun kafamızdaki soru işaretlerinin anahtarı haline gelmesiyle beraber tüketicileri first moment’tan evvel internet üzerinde yakalanması gerekliliğini ortaya koydu. Zero moment of truth kavramı araştırmalar sonucunda, tüketicilerin internette yaptığı ürün aramalarının vereceği kararı olgunlaştırdığını kanıtladı. Şuan için moment of truth’lar 4’e ...

Brainstorming Rules: What TO DO and What NOT TO DO..

Resim
These two short videos are priceless! They were created by students at the Stanford Design Institute. The first oneshows how NOT to brainstorm and the second one shows HOW to do it effectively. They picked a fanciful problem to solve - saving your chewing gum when you go to class. The worst case example happens all the time. In fact, I was at a meeting last week with people with whom I don't normally work, and we were "brainstorming" about a new program. One person made a suggestion, and someone else literally responded with, "Go shoot yourself." For anyone who has spent any time polishing their brainstorming skills, they know that the FIRST rule is to defer judgment. This was a great, real life example of how NOT to do it. Here is a video summary of what NOT to do: Here is a video summary of what TO DO: IN SUMMARY: - Defer judgment - Capture all the ideas - Encourage wild ideas - One conversation at a time - Build on other p...
